Tips for Buying a Good Sofa

Let's talk about buying a sofa. Here’s a fun fact – did you know that an average person sits on a sofa for four hours every day. Since you invest so much time on it you probably want to buy a sofa that’s durable and comfortable, so you can enjoy every minute of the four hours. Here are a few tips on buying the right sofa.

When spending anywhere close to 15-30% of the living rooms budget on a sofa you want to first test it out. Now if you're using the sofa to watch TV you'd want to curl up and sit comfortably. This means you should look for a sofa that's deeper maybe with low armrest so you can lie down and rest your head on it. If you're looking for a more formal couch you want something that supports the back. It has a shorter depth and keeps you in a more upright position. However, you want to use your sofa, use it. Just test it out first.

Now for the second tip, for a good investment, you want to purchase a sofa with a strong and well-built frame. Most of the fabric may wear away but one can always reupholster the sofa, that is if the fibre of the sofa is worth upholstering. Now the true test for the sofa is padding and filling and everyone can decide on it the moment you sit on the sofa, it's either too soft or too hard. Something in between is the best bet. You want something that will give comfort when you sit on it and most importantly, you'd want the cushions to spring back to its original position. Buying a mid-century sofa is not that difficult; just be sure as to what you want.
